Lovely Place To Stay
We were given a lovely comfortable room. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with the freshest of salads and vegetables and a delicious homemade chocolate torte for dessert. we asked if we could stay another night but unfortunately there was not a room available but one of the staff offered to try to get accommodation for us at a nearby guest house. The Cambridge Park and Ride is only a short drive away from The Crown and Punchbowl and also Angelsey Abbey which we visited. We have recommended you to our son and daughter in law as they will be visiting the area next year.

Not Quite 5 Stars This Time
Our second stay. Lovely clean accommodation and nice evening meal. My vegan wife and daughter were well accommodated! But a disappointing breakfast. Only one other table occupied with a group of 8 but this seemed too much for the staff to handle. Having to constantly share milk, butter, etc. Out of orange juice. Staff seemed unhappy.

Fabulous Comfortable Stay
Warm friendly welcome. Beautiful comfortable room, breakfast first morning after a perfect night sleep absolutely perfect. Delicious meal on our second evening in a lovely setting and atmosphere.

The only thing that let our stay down was breakfast on our final day. The service was ok, however i got the feeling that ordering at 8.45am wasn\'t the best idea we had had. Very simple little things spoiled an otherwise perfect stay. Dried up what i assumed had been mushrooms and a very soggy grilled/baked? Tomato...I think they had both just been left standing for to long? And the toast was served on top of the cooked breakfast rather than on a side plate. Very silly small let downs. However, that aside i would highly recommend... just get to breakfast earlier!!

Happy/ Sad
We were so excited to find such a great B&B near Cambridge. The decor of the pub is modern and has a great feel good factor. We were so happy with the beautiful room too and thought it good value for money. The only disappointment was being told we had to sit in the back dining room alone for dinner when we had asked specifically for a booking in the afternoon before I think the manager would have found us a table even if we had waited at the bar for half an hour we would have been happy to do that

Nice
Nice room, nice setting, nice food, lovely waiting staff (not so lovely the chap who glanced at his watch and pursed his lips when we turned up 20 minutes before the \'allowed\' check in time of 5pm). Nice is the best word to describe this place because of the price charged, otherwise it could be exceptional. Beware if you end up in the Erasmus room, the cost for a weekend break is £295, not £275 as advertised (though they did honour this at check out when it was mentioned). It was all nice but we came away feeling as if we\'d paid more than the weekend was worth, which in our opinion was about £225.

Best Night\'s Sleep In Ages
Booked at the last minute as my usual accommodation in the area were all full. I received a warm welcome on checking in and was shown a lovely clean and comfortable room. The real ale (I had the \"Hophead\") on tap was excellent as was the food in particular the pork loin with mustard mash. The bed proved to be so comfortable I could easily had a lie-in. My only suggestion for improvement is that breakfast at 07:30 is possibly a little late for business people (but I didn\'t ask for an earlier time). I will definitely stay with you again.

Excellent Two Night Stay
We stayed here whilst visiting relatives in Cambridge and it was an ideal base. The accommodation in the Woolf room was cosy, although without a bath and the shower was quite small. The ambience throughout was welcoming and casual but the staff were all very friendly, efficient and courteous. The food, especially the included evening meal on one of the nights, was superb. Very high end restaurant standard. Plenty of parking too, which is a bonus. We certainly would recommend this characterful, country pub for anybody wishing to enjoy accommodation away from the city but also within easy

reach of its attractions.

The Makings
I was much looking forward to staying at the crown & punchbowl for a rest stop due to business trip. I booked my stay due to the high reviews on booking.com.

on the surface the venue was newly decorated to a high standard, food was good on paper. all the makings of a pleasant stay. but there seemed to be some thing lacking.

the sincerity of the staff/ the attentiveness seem insincere. my food starter of scallops was hit and miss with the flavours. internet was so bad that could not stream movie in my room when I retired to my room. The wall where paper thin so I could here until late the occupants next door. I do stay in many places due to business trips and this so far was not one that will stay with me as some where I would like to come back to again. especially at £120 per night not inclusive of breakfast.

Relaxing Retreat
Beautiful venue in a lovely little village on the outskirts of Cambridge. Room was tastefully decorated, comfortable, a good size, with everything you could need. Breakfast and evening meal were good with very friendly and helpful service. Venue is close to Cambridge city centre by car but the walk along the river from Horningsea (as per instructions in the guest book) took an hour and a half each way at a brisk pace - rather longer than we had anticipated. Needless to say, we only made the trip there and back on foot the once during our stay. Would be much more doable by bike - maybe worth hiring them out? All in all though, a fab little place - would definitely stay again if we were visiting Cambridge.

Great Rural Location For A Cambridge Stopover
Excellent rooms in a charming village - a 5-mile walk from Cambridge center, along the beautiful River Cam. This \"pub\" has an excellent restaurant boasting a surprisingly good seafood selection, and real ale too!

Excellent Choice If You Have A Car/rent A Car
I saw high rating of previous guests before booking and wondered if it would live up to the rating. It did and I would happily stay here again. Much better than staying in chain hotel. Nice, newly refurbished room, excellent food in restaurant. Well kept real ale in the bar.

Birthday
Having decided to take my husband to the Crown and Punchbowl for his birthday and spend the night there, although we only live about 5 miles away, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive, helpful and wanted us to have a good experience. Our room was very tastefully decorated, nicely furnished and the bed was exceedingly comfortable. Where did you find that lovely creamy soap!

Each of the three courses we had for dinner were very tasty. Not too large but not mean sized either.Neither of us could resist the `Sea Trout\' , which we haven\'t seen on a menu for a while. This meant I could polish off a pudding---a rarity for me . Thank you.

Comfortable With Excellent Service
The whole building is looking great after the refurbishment - very stylishly done. The room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated - a great improvement! Shower was powerful, and everything worked in the room. Food and service in the restaurant were excellent - staff very helpful and friendly. Would have liked a lighter option for breakfast, say porridge/yogurt/fruit/croissant, but what I did have was delicious. Thanks for a great stay.

Excellent Facilities,lovely Location
This was the first time I had stayed at the C&P for a couple of years, previously when Roger was the Manager. Refurbishment has been excellent and the setting is delightful. Service is good but a little too formal, and can understand that the new management are anxious to please, but they need to lighten up a little bit more. Patrolling the dining areas too frequently made me as a single dinner feel a bit uncomfortable. Overnight on second night, heating failed and room was like an icebox. I had to wait until 8am on second morning when breakfast staff arrived to fire up the heating system as nobody on site overnight it appears. Food fantastic, room very well appointed but think service needs to be a little less formal, as it is a country hotel not The Savoy. All in all I will definitely stay again (providing the heating is working.....)

One Downside.
In every respect but one I would rate my experience as excellent. Opposite the Coleridge room in a cupboard was some machinery that ran all night making getting to sleep even with earplugs extremely diificult.

Good Stay!
The room was very nice, clean, comfortable and perfect for a night stay. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and I had a steak. It was okay, for the price i did expect a little better and the peppercorn sauce was really thin. Good selection of wines, would definitely stay again.

Excellent
We stayed for 1 night and the accommodation, service, staff and food were all excellent.

Really can\'t fault a thing - well worth a visit & if you want some exercise, the walk along the river into Cambridge is good and takes only about 80 mins.

Wonderful
Could not fault anything about our stay. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful, clean, fresh, bright bedroom and very spacious bathroom with a very powerful shower. We both had the set meal in the evening and can honestly say that this was the best meal that we have eaten out in a long time. Lots to choose from on the menu. Breakfast was also lovely with plenty of choice.

Would not hesitate to recommend and would love to go back. The only negative for us was that we could only stay for one night, would love to have stayed for longer. Thank you

Perfect Spot For A Stay In Cambridge
A lovely place to stay in the delightful village of Horningsea. Comfy bed, modern shower, and real attention paid to little details such as the USB charger points on the mains sockets. Breakfast is delicious and freshly cooked, and the restaurant is first class.
