Great Start To A Trip!
Arrived at 7 AM, after an all-night trip from Canada. We were looked after quickly, full breakfast provided even though we weren't due one until the next day.The room we were given turned out not to be as booked, but it was corrected quickly and the replacement, quiet back room, looked after us royally. The location was perfect, as we were a short walk away from 'local' pubs and the bus service was across the street, ...Seven minutes to the 'Royal mile'. David and Margaret patiently answered all our 'touristy' questions and provided 'change' for the bus.We would come back again and would recommend to our friends and family.

Enjoy!

Lovely Guest House
We stayed two nights, and the accommodations and service could not have been better. Very clean, friendly, and nice touches. We needed to leave our luggage early one morning before we checked in later that day, and that gladly kept it for us and then carried the two heavy bags up two big flights of stairs for us while we were out all day. Food was quite good as well. Wonderful family. Totally recommend!

Girly Weekend Away
Beautiful guest house, very clean and spacious rooms. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. Very welcoming hosts who were helpful when asked but not intrusive. We walked to/from the city centre which took approx. 10-15 mins and sometimes got a taxi which was max. £8. I would definitely recommend this guesthouse and would love to stay here again.

The Best B & B
We loved Gifford House! Our room was large and looked onto a back garden and Arthur's Seat. Our host was very accommodating, he helped us with bus routes, where to go, where to have dinner, he just knew everything. He also let us use his phone to call our credit card company. He and his wife went out of their way to be helpful! Breakfast was fantastic and there was a large selection of jams and fruits and we just stuffed ourselves..scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked. We had a great stay & didn't want to leave!

Encantador!!
Si volvemos a Edimburgo sin dudarlo eligiriamos "The Gifford House" nuevamente!!. Un gran saludo desde URUGUAY para Margaret & David

A majestic landmark which dominates the capital city's skyline just as it has dominated Scotland's long and colourful history. Edinburgh Castle is the best known and most visited of Historic Scotland's buildings. Perched on an extinct volcano and offering stunning views, this instantly recognisable fortress is a powerful national symbol, and part of Edinburgh's World Heritage Site. A rich mix of architectural styles reflects the castle's complex history and role as both stronghold and seat of Kings. The tiny St Margaret's Chapel, Edinburgh's oldest building, dates from the 1100s.

Edinburgh is the breathtakingly beautiful capital of Scotland, an exciting place to visit at any time of year. Edinburgh offers you superb sightseeing, historic buildings to explore, quiet galleries and museums to intrigue you, thrilling new attractions to discover, serious shopping, a vast choice of excellent Restaurants, Bistros, Wine Bars, Pubs and Cafes, and nightlife to suit all tastes. When the Picts built a fort on a volcanic crag in the 5th century, to protect Scotland from the invading Angles of Northumberland, Edinburgh's history began. The present Castle, was built on the site by Michael Canmore (1057-93); his wife St. Margaret, built the chapel which you can still visit today.
