Loved It!
We stayed here just for the night near Christmas. The attention to deco ie Christmas decs, roaring log fire was magical. Liked the ideas of chalet type rooms. That way no noise can be heard from the adjoining pub area. Had a whale of a time. Food and drink were excellent. As were all the staff. Very friendly and very helpful. On our list of fav places to visit again. Tku for making Christmas special!

Regular
Great food, welcoming staff and comfortable, quiet rooms.

However.... my gripe is more a time of year thing. Staying during the week before christmas week the restaurant menu was rather "festive season" focused. I realise that this time of year is a major business opportunity for the hospitality industry and, to be fair, the Royal Arms is certainly not alone in this approach, but on this occasion I found the menu a little limiting and it would have been nice if there were a few normal "bar-food favourites" to chose from such as sausage and mash or burgers etc. Still, it is only once a year and the chicken curry was very good!

Lovely Old Coaching Inn.
LOvely old inn with modern comfortable bedrooms, delightful dining room and lots of outside seating for summertime - Bit chilly in December. Great shower, accommodation warm and spacious. (Room 1). Visiting family so didn't eat at the inn. Good value for money. Great place to stay for the Battlefield line railway.

Enjoyable Overnight Stay
Excellent meal in the restaurant, polite and helpful staff. The room had a cosy feel to it and was ample for a nights stay.

The bed could have done with a new mattress and I miss the comfortable settee in the bar area. Bring back the chocolate fountain too! Overall a pleasant stay.

Stayed before with a Groupon but this time we booked directly as we enjoyed the stay so much.

A beautiful place for R&R, lovely log fire's and friendly staff. We even woke up to snow which made it perfect for a pre Christmas getaway.

We decided to make this an annual break for us, can't wait to come back again soon
